BERONIA NAMED “WINERY OF THE YEAR”
Beronia has been named “Winery of the Year” by the Gourmets Wine Guide(GVG) in its milestone 40th edition. This award places Beronia at the forefront of the Spanish wine scene, reaffirming our ongoing commitment to quality, sustainability, and innovation.
The Gourmets Wine Guide is one of the most influential and respected publications in the Spanish wine industry. Since its first edition in 1983, it has stood out for its rigorous and objective evaluations, with blind tastings that this year reviewed 4,915 wines from 1,270 wineries across the country.
“In 1973, in Ollauri, La Rioja, a group of friends from a traditional gastronomic society founded a winery, naming it after the warrior tribe that inhabited the region in the 3rd century BC – the Berones. Thus, Bodegas Beronia was born. Today, its modern and sustainable facilities, located next to the original winery, are widely recognized for their energy efficiency. Beronia was a pioneer in the use of geothermal energy.”
The GVG also praised the unique identity of the wines, stating that Beronia produces wines "not based on grape variety, winemaking method, or time spent in barrel, but on the passion poured into each one: indisputable, distinguished, and rare."
