Bodegas Beronia has gained outstanding recognition for four of its Reserva wines at this year’s Mundus Vini. The 2011 Beronia Gran Reserva, 2015 Beronia Reserva, 2011 Beronia 198 Barricas and 2015 Beronia Mazuelo Reserva all won gold medals at Germany’s best known wine competition
Matias Calleja, chief winemaker at Beronia, commented, “Such fabulous news to find out we have won not one but four gold medals for our Reserva wines. Our commitment to making quality aged Rioja is paramount, especially given the inauguration of brand new winery this spring which is designed just for ageing our very best wines. These medals prove that work has already begun.”
The new Beronia Reserve winery will be one of the first in Europe to achieve the LEED pre-certification (Leader in Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Design), which is an internationally recognized sustainable accreditation granted by the US Green Building Council, recognising and rewarding those buildings whose design and construction have sustainability and low environmental impact at their heart. It has been designed specifically to house Beronia wines destined for extended ageing, such as its Reserva, Gran Reserva and top quality wines.
